Utilizing an AI design method, engineers at NASA’s JPL and software company Autodesk surfaced with a new interplanetary lander idea that could study distant moons such as Enceladus and Europa. Autodesk declared its new pioneering lander design at the Las Vegas conference of the company—disclosing a spacecraft that appears similar to a spider knitted from metal.

The firm states the notion to make the vehicle was flashed when Autodesk approached the space agency to corroborate a lander model it had been functioning on. After looking at the work of Autodesk, JPL and the firm settled on to make a design team—involving 5 engineers from JPL and 5 from Autodesk —to surface with a new approach to design landers.
